Estate

San Valentino is an organic winery founded in 1997, nestled in the hills of Rimini near the Adriatic Sea. Covering 15 hectares, it has been fully organic since 2009 under the guidance of the founder Roberto Mascarin. Today, the winery is led by its founder Roberto Mascarin together with local entrepreneur Gianluca Marchetti. The vineyards are planted with grapes Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, and the native Rebola. Among its projects, the innovative label Floowers, natural wine with Chestwine technology and the Vivi line, White and Red, a tribute to Valeria Vivian, Roberto's late wife, symbolizing strength, elegance, and personality.

Grapes

Organically grown Sangiovese grapes with no added sulfites.

Tasting notes

100% Sangiovese. Ruby intense red color. Aromas of red fruits, violet, aromatic herbs, licorice root, a vegetal note reminiscent of a delicate smoky touch. On the palate it is vibrant and savory, with lively tannins, warmth, long, elegant finish with a refined bitter note.

Background

The acclaimed organic winery on the Adriatic Coast in Emilia-Romagna, proudly announces the U.S. debut of FLOOWERS, a groundbreaking Rimini DOC Sangiovese Superiore made without added sulfites. This is the first Italian wine producer to enter the U.S. market with a no-sulfites-added Sangiovese, paving the way for sustainability and innovation in this category.

"We wanted to challenge convention without losing touch with our roots," says Roberto Mascarin, founder of San Valentino. "With FLOOWERS, we continue our journey of natural viticulture, proving that innovation can be an act of respect - for the land, for time, and for those who drink our wines."

Crafted from 100% organically-grown Sangiovese grapes, FLOOWERS is vinified in steel to preserve purity and freshness. During the vinification and the aging, the wine is protected by CHESTWINE - an all-natural extract derived from chestnut flowers (Castanea sativa) - instead of chemical preservatives. Developed by researchers at the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança in Portugal, CHESTWINE protects against oxidation and bacterial contamination while maintaining the wine's natural color, aromatic integrity, and structure, which are often diminished with the use of sulfites.

"For U.S. consumers, FLOOWERS represents access to something revolutionary yet authentic — a terroir-driven Italian wine made with cutting-edge natural technology," said Enrico Farello, Italian Portfolio Director at Touton Selections Ltd. "As health-conscious drinking trends grow, sulfite-free wines like this offer a bridge between science and craftsmanship, bringing new life to a category ready for rediscovery."

The name FLOOWERS carries layered meaning - it celebrates both the purity and vitality of the flower and the infinite connection between nature, love, and humanity, represented by the intertwined double "o" on the logo. A blooming chestnut tree stands above a couple walking hand-in-hand, another poetic symbol of renewal and harmony on the label CHESTWINE is a patented innovation and a model of circular economy. By transforming an agricultural by-product - chestnut flowers - into a protective extract, it reduces waste while enhancing the wine's natural defenses. Research has shown that wines treated with CHESTWINE demonstrate greater aromatic expression and stability compared to those made with traditional sulfites.

This advancement aligns with San Valentino's long-standing commitment to organic and sustainable viticulture. Founded in the 1990s by Roberto Mascarin, the 15-hectare estate overlooks the Adriatic Sea and is known for small, artisanal wine production that reflects the minerality of Rimini's clay-limestone soils. San Valentino has been fully certified organic since 2009. Nowadays the company is guided by consulting winemaker Andrea Lupi.

At the end of 2022, entrepreneur Gianluca Marchetti joined Mascarin in leading the winery, ushering in a new era of growth and innovation. FLOOWERS marks a continuation of this path - an emblem of mindful experimentation rooted in family tradition.

Some items are removed from original packaging, and placed in protective shipping containers to ensure safe delivery.

While most orders are shipped the day they are placed. The demand for limited supplies will occasionally deplete our stock of a paticular product, in this case it will generally take an additional 1 - 2 business days to receive the product and fufill the order.

Although it is rare, if there was a packing error, we would like to resolve it for you! In the event that we shipped an incorrect item, we may ask you to hold on to those items and the exsisting packaging so that we can arrange for a return pick up. If you find that items are missing from your order, we are happy to assist you in reshipping the missing items or processing a credit for the missing item/items. Occasionally a chosen vintage of a wine may sell out or be replaced by a new release after your order is placed. Bottles of wine that are under $20, will not hold up an order and we will simply automatically substitute the wine with the comparable vintage. Please be assured that we will only substitute with a vintage for the same wine. Wine that is valued more than $20 per bottle, we will attempt to contact the customer. After two attempts, the available vintage will be automatically shipped out. (The return policy of $15 return shipping costs, and 15% restocking fee will be enforced.)

Yiannis Wine will not be held liable for damages to orders due to weather conditions during shipping. Potential exposure to extreme heat or cold may damage items during shipping. As we can not be held responsible for products damaged due to weather, we suggest you choose FedEx Express to ship your items and/or add ice packs to your order (during extreme heat) to help prevent damages. We can also place your orders on weather hold until weather conditions improve. Wine is usually fine if it is exposed to some heat (as that is the way wine is made.....Heated so the yeast is activated). If your wine is warm, please place them in a cool, dark room so the wine can "settle."

Most returns will be accepted, but ALL bottles must be returned to get credit. A half bottle or empty bottle of something that did not taste GOOD is fine to return, but the customer will not receive full credit if the bottle is not included.
