Winemaker Notes
The Ramos-Pinto 30-Year old Tawny is amber colored with orange and garnet tones. The delicate green highlights of the meniscus are characteristic of old cask-aged wines, and illustrate the quality and advanced age of this fine port. This complex, perfectly balanced port shows rich aromas of dried fruit and vanilla. Agitate the glass and spice aromas of cinnamon and cocoa are liberated. In the mouth, the attack is fresh, fine and delicate. Ripe, dried fruit softly merges with almond and hazelnut, culminating in vanilla flavors which linger gracefully on the palate.

96James Suckling
Complex, showing lots of dates, walnuts and caramel on top of the dried fruit, savoriness and spices. A touch of iodine with oxidative notes and a hint of old leather. Excellent integration of alcohol and sweetness, with concentrated flavors and a long, near-salty finish that goes on for more than a minute.
94Decanter
This sings from the glass with sweet spice, marmalade, molasses, clove, nutty, toffee, caramel and balsamic perfume. A very complex array of flavors, including roasted coffee, scorched earth, fig and walnut. A distinctive style, done very well. Highly impressive.
94Wine Enthusiast
The wonderful old-gold color of this tawny leads into a generous, rich wine that has retained fruits while also showing a woody character that is typical of wines this old. With spice, dried raisins and intense acidity, it is a beautiful wine that deserves to be drunk just by itself.

The Ramos Pinto 30 Year Tawny Porto is all about the complexity. It just wraps its nuances of butterscotch, vanilla, hazelnut, and sweet oak onto the palate and then some. The some, in this case, is just a long, long finish that never seems to stop. Enjoy this sweet nectar with a long conversation with a good friend. (Tasted: October 27, 2016, San Francisco, CA)

The NV RP 30 Year Old Tawny Port was bottled in February 2020 with a bar-top cork and 139 grams of residual sugar. Showing more complexity and notably more sweetness than the 20 Year also reviewed this issue, this is along the lines of the last release (the 2018) that I saw a while back. As it opens and the sugar blows off, especially a couple of days later, this shows off its complexity even more, but also just a touch of harshness. The key difference is really the complexity versus the freshness—in other words, about what you'd expect. The 20 Year has almost as much concentration and power as this elegant 30 Year, but the 20 Year is fresher and even more elegant (not that the 30 isn't rather fresh for its age), while the 30 Year is far more nuanced. I personally slightly preferred this, as I usually lean toward complexity, but reasonable minds might differ.

“This starts with a crescendo and doesn’t stop,” said Justin Nash of NYC’s The Modern. It’s a broad-spectrum Tawny, the pleasures of its textures rolling out across the mouth and throat, the flavors delivered in layers of toasty, nutty complexity. It’s the kind of wine that will inspire conversation long into the night.

This is alluring, with whiffs of warm date, green tea and walnut backed by juicy fig bread and salted caramel flavors. The racy, focused finish lets a singed juniper note glide through. Drink now.

Occasionally a chosen vintage of a wine may sell out or be replaced by a new release after your order is placed. Bottles of wine that are under $20, will not hold up an order and we will simply automatically substitute the wine with the comparable vintage. Please be assured that we will only substitute with a vintage for the same wine. Wine that is valued more than $20 per bottle, we will attempt to contact the customer. After two attempts, the available vintage will be automatically shipped out. (The return policy of $15 return shipping costs, and 15% restocking fee will be enforced.)
Yiannis Wine will not be held liable for damages to orders due to weather conditions during shipping. Potential exposure to extreme heat or cold may damage items during shipping. As we can not be held responsible for products damaged due to weather, we suggest you choose FedEx Express to ship your items and/or add ice packs to your order (during extreme heat) to help prevent damages. We can also place your orders on weather hold until weather conditions improve. Wine is usually fine if it is exposed to some heat (as that is the way wine is made.....Heated so the yeast is activated). If your wine is warm, please place them in a cool, dark room so the wine can "settle."
Most returns will be accepted, but ALL bottles must be returned to get credit. A half bottle or empty bottle of something that did not taste GOOD is fine to return, but the customer will not receive full credit if the bottle is not included.
